4. Promote Educational and networking events for the Aspiring and Startup IT entrepreneurs in Africa. Design of courses, conferences, internships, web sites and research activities to promote entrepreneurship education

5. Provide benefits to students, educators, startup entrepreneurs, workers, IT professionals, CEOs, business owners and all members of Africa's entrepreneurship community

6. Create Linkages and Networks of like-minded individuals in the area of IT entrepreneurship. Facilitate an environment for the exchange of entrepreneurial ideas in Africa

7. Promote an entrepreneurial mindset within African societies in general and within the Information Technology community in particular. Stimulate interest in entrepreneurship among students and the youth

8. Explore issues and challenges faced by entrepreneurs and leaders of Information Technology organizations in Africa

9. Initiate and Source for Funding to support the objectives

10. Create Public Awareness about Information Technology entrepreneurship in Africa. Raise Awareness of benefits and importance of IT Entrepreneurship

The Need for NASITEA

What is does the digital revolution mean to Africa and it's citizens? More than usage and consumption; African businesses must also contribute and provide ICT products and solutions.
A strong knowledge economy depends on educated, competent and creative users, business people, ICT professionals, ICT solution providers and ICT entrepreneurs.
Rather than perpetual consumption, ICT entrepreneurship is an opportunity for African nations to key into the high value end of the knowledge economy value chain.
But the culture of entrepreneurship needs to be promoted. 170,000 graduates are injected into the labour market yearly and most graduates still prefer white collar jobs.
Entrepreneurship education is required in the education system; there is also a need for more business information and better information management for entrepreneurs in Cameroun, Kenya, Namibia, Tunisia, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, Ghana, Ethiopia and other African countries.

Though African governments provide support through SME support and financing schemes and Microfinance policies, a major stumbling block is the risk-averse nature of funders. Entrepreneurship is about taking risks!
 

Quality of Life

Nigeria is the sixth largest exporter of oil but what is the quality of life of its citizens? Africa is blessed with human and mineral resources, is Africa in the right position to take advantage?

All over Africa, Oil and other natural resources aren’t enough to compete successfully in the fast moving world economy. Information and Communications Technology (ICT) is indispensable for growth. ICT has made individuals and organizations work better, faster, more cheaply and more reliably.

ICT is an opportunity to enable Africa compete more effectively in an increasingly technology and knowledge driven world. The use of digital technologies is a major issue that separates the developed and developing nations – the digital divide.

In view of the important role information technology plays in all aspects of our personal and business lives, the IT entrepreneur is critical to development. For example, in this era of globalization, IT entrepreneurship allows African countries to become producers and creators in the high value areas of the knowledge economy. Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs) are the infrastructure of the digital global economy.

Entrepreneurship is essential for the growth and development of economies of African countries. The economies in Africa have been dominated by Government and large corporations - capital intensive, import dependent; and yet with Africa’s abundant human and natural resources, poverty, unemployment and poor heathcare still ravage the land.

Entrepreneurship creates jobs, spread wealth, expands opportunity, and promotes social inclusion and mobility.

However, most entrepreneurs still use old economy methods. But to perform at their best, Africans must use IT and Communications technologies more effectively in their lives and their businesses. There is a need for the IT entrepreneur. The IT entrepreneur creates jobs, social inclusion and overall prosperity.

Time for Action! Words do not move Mountains!

Let's start with Awareness and by addressing the Challenges (market, financial and technical) that an entrepreneur faces when starting a company.

Let's make entrepreneurship an obvious and proud career choice for the Youth.

Let's promote the culture of risk taking, knowledge, ethics and constant change that the new economy demands.
